The swan lake, by Tchaikovsky

'The Swan Lake' is one of the most important ballet works by Russian composer Tchaikovsky (1840-1893).
Tchaikovsky belongs to the Romantic period, which evolved throughout the 19th Century. The most important composers of this period were Schubert, Schumann, Mendelssohn, Berlioz, Brahms and Chopin. The composers in this period tried to reflect their feelings through his music.
Other important ballet works by Tchaikovsky were 'The sleeping beauty' and 'The nutcracker'. Ballet became really trendy along the 19th Century.
Tchaikovsky underwent a life of pain and disgrace partly because homosexuality was punished in Russia at that time.
