Música y cine
El comienzo de la película 'La lista de Schindler' es un excelente recurso para reflexionar sobre la importancia de la banda sonora en una película: Os propongo escuchar la escena sin mirarla, luego verla sin sonido y finalmente comprobar cómo cómo se utiliza la banda sonora:
- hay músicas no diegéticas que se convierten en diegéticas
- hay conversaciones que no se escuchan (y no hay necesidad)
- hay diferentes maneras de transitar de una escena a la siguiente

Músicas de vanguardia
La música de vanguardia incluye obras experimentales del siglo XX, en las que se cuestiona la forma de hacer música que había imperado hasta entonces: se utilizan ruidos cotidianos grabados con un micrófono, combinaciones aleatorias, sonidos generados electrónicamente... veamos tres ejemplos:
Pierre Henry fue un autor francés que utilizó sonidos de la vida cotidiana grabados con un micrófono y mezclados con pericia para producir la llamada 'música concreta':
Karlzheim Stockhausen fue un alemán que experimentó con la electrónica. En 'El canto de los adolescentes' mezcla sonidos generados electrónicamente con voces de niños cantando o hablando:
El norteamericano John Cage fue más allá: escribió una obra en cuya partitura no había escrita ni una sola nota, solo silencios: se titula 4'33'' en referencia a su duración. Lo interesante de esta obra no es lo que Cage compuso, sino los sonidos generados por el público atónito o indignado durante el estreno:
